Terminal Air alert notification
Current location: 540 W 21st street, NYC
COURTLANDT-LAND DOT COM is now registered to receive alert messages from Terminal Air for all planes departing from NEWARK LIBERTY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT.
Terminal Air is a service of the Institute for Applied Autonomy. For more information, visit http://www.terminalair.com
TERMINAL AIR allows users to view the movements of planes that are known or specifically suspected of being used in the CIA EXTRAORDINARY RENDITION PROGRAM or providing support for the vast prison system that has been constructed outside US law.
In the Extraordinary Rendition program, suspected terrorists captured in Western nations are transported to other countries for torture and interrogation. The transportation is largely carried out using leased equipment and private contractors. These private charter planes often use civilian airports for refueling, making their movements subject to public record and visible to anyone who knows which tail numbers to look for.

Call for Art outside the Hive Archive
Hive Preview
The Hive's primary location on Manton Avenue has come a long way in the past few months. Extensive construction has been taking place so that the building can be occupied. Here is a sneak peak at one of the rooms. I'm sure it'll inspire all sorts of great projects!
Calling All Artists!
The Hive Archive is seeking artists to participate in a Fall show at our space on Manton Avenue in Providence. The show will take place outside so we're looking for a variety of creative projects that can happen on the walls, the roof, and in the nooks and crannies created by the unique shape of the building. Projections, sound installations, sculpture, murals, are all welcome - you name it!
If you have an idea, send us an email. We'd love to hear from you.

An explosion of new blogs from artists, collectors, galleries, residency programs and museums are reshaping notions of professional practice within the arts. Though promotion is certainly a major driver in this arena, sites such as Art.Blogging.LA, Walker Blogs, Art Fever and PORT are especially good at projecting a local arts scene into a broader context. Other models investigate blog as sketchbook, establishing a new format for the open atelier. Does art blogging indicate the emergence of a dislocated, yet thoroughly local arts scene? Can blogs shift the space of studio practice while retaining its capability to be unstructured? Is the quest for site traffic inherently at odds with healthy periods of gestation and dormancy? What models exist for balancing these forces? What are the implications for establishing or maintaining an art practice for those who remain virtually present, yet physically distant? This panel will be structured as a roundtable: short presentations followed by discussion. Panelists will be requested to participate as authors on a group blog launching prior to the conference as a method of instigating depth in the discussions – so that the roundtable may function as an extension of the blog and vice versa. Prior blogging experience not required.

If you wouldn't eat a dog or cat...
... don't come to Korea! -sk sk (slightly kidding) (-i am starting that one if anyone wants to join me - it is also the name of my favorite keyboard so i am doubly happy saying it- this way if you hate someone and say a mean thing instead of erasing the comment completely you can erase it halfway and maintain the distance of a loathing relationship) back to the point - some people do eat dogs here but its not common. i havent seen any on the menu yet, of course, everything is in korean and i dont know the word for dog yet...
which is why it is soooo hard to be a vegetarian here. everything has meat - Everything! except for a couple exceptions it is so hard to get something at a restaurant that isnt chock full of animal. well even speaking in korean i had to reconfirm 10 times to a local pizza store owner that i didnt want meat on the pizza - we established finally only veggies, then the chef came from the back and talked with the guy and he asked me again - no pepperoni... no, no ham..... no sausage... anio anio anio. they are amazed. ok
which brings me to the real start of the long story short. (i started this on mise en scene -arent you impressed):
etrain, i love chompy, but the link you put in your blog sent me to a search and i didnt find your dog chompy...
i did find someone elses dog chompy on a peta flicker post where everyone is holding these signs that say 'if you wouldnt eat a cat or dog....' next to their pets and i thought this was cool. so i was looking for one to put on this blog with the title '...dont come to korea' and thats all. but then i saw this girl:

this is almost as good as the guy who put a tea kettle on ebay and didnt realize there is a reflection of him taking the picture naked.
are these people oblivious or so they do it to become famous?
I hope peta uses this in a national campaign, right after they are done with naked alicia silverstone
i dont know if this makes me want to be a vegetarian more or less - i am happy that there are ads making people aware... but this ad just makes people aware of silverstones ass
