Everybody's doing it whether they like it or not...
Just to name the local results:
• Researchers at the U.S. Geological Survey analyzed a Passaic Valley Water Commission drinking water treatment plant, which serves 850,000 people in Northern New Jersey, and found a metabolized angina medicine and the mood-stabilizing carbamazepine in drinking water.
• Officials in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, said testing there discovered 56 pharmaceuticals or byproducts in treated drinking water, including medicines for pain, infection, high cholesterol, asthma, epilepsy, mental illness and heart problems. Sixty-three pharmaceuticals or byproducts were found in the city's watersheds.
Afterthought 1 and 1.5:
On a completely unrelated note, China condemned Bjork for being an 'irresponsible' artist, among other things, because she yelled "Tibet Tibet" at the end of a song at her concert in China. There are a lot of people saying REEEEAALLY dumb things about it on You Tube comments and other online forums. I don't want to get you started so there is no link here but if you want to find some found poetry or get more pissed off about the state of things, read peoples arguments on the subject...
There have been a lot of protests in Seoul about the Olympics being held in China because of human rights violations, and the f'ed up stuff they did to korea but korea be holding mad grudges and also be pretty super-racist from what i been hearing, in completely general terms, not taking into account individuals but society as a whole here is very homogeneous and I have not heard anything but hatred toward a select few groups of people. I am trying to spread the love; especially to the little ones I am teaching! You would not believe what comes out of their mouths sometimes.
Afterthought 2:
also the oceans are turning into plastic -
Reid brought the 'Great Pacific Garbage Patch' to my attention
Well that's life till the apocalypse or something better...
... At least we have a steady supply of anti-depressants in our drinking water!
to end on a happy note,
Bjork is Awesome
