FATHERS DAY:
Thank Sonora Smart Dodd, devoted daughter of William Jackson Smart, a Civil War Vet, for the creation of this familial hallmark holiday we call 'father's day'. Begun in 1908, Fairmont W. VA, the celebration was to commemorate widowed wives, who had lost their husbands in a mining accident (salon.com). Now, instead of honoring dead dads we say 'sup' to live ones with stupid cards. I went to the dollar store this morning to get my dad a card, and shit were they stupid. Pictures of horses, quails, tractors fish and baseballs - none of these resemble my father. So i got this stupid sasquatch looking character holding a sign that says THANKS, and i added 'dad' with some arrows. i hope that works.
